Trish was chosen for the coveted three month internship following her graduation from Stevenson in November.

Rankin has snapped some of Hollywood’s most famous stars and worked on campaigns for Madonna, BMW, Coca Cola, Nike, Marks and Spencer, L’Oreal and Hugo Boss and is also the owner of Dazed and Confused and Hunger TV magazines.

Spending her time helping with the day to day running of the studio, Trish, is learning vital skills which will further her career as a photographer.

Trish said: "There’s a real buzz about the studio. A typical day as an intern is very busy with people coming in for shoots and there’s always something to be getting ready for. The organisation behind a shoot is extensive.

I chose to apply for the internship because of the diversity of Rankin’s work and his momentum which is very inspiring. It’s fascinating to see how he runs his business – he’s always working, always creating."

Trish feels the course at Stevenson prepared her well for her experience. She said: "My dad is into photography and he inspired me to take it up. I used photography a lot during my degree in fine art from Edinburgh College of Art but I wanted to concentrate completely on portrait photography. The BA course at Stevenson fitted this perfectly as it offered the chance to learn about the technical and practical aspects of photography.

"The teachers at Stevenson put their heart and soul into everything they do. The facilities are also excellent. Stevenson has really prepared me for where I am today."

Alan McEwan, Head of Photography, Computing and Design at Stevenson added: "It’s fantastic that Trish has gone on to an internship with such a high profile photographer after completing her studies. The BA Professional Photography course is very hands on.  It aims to prepare students for the world of work, teaching technical skills and offering practical business advice. Trish’s internship will build on these skills and offers a valuable insight into the workings of a large studio."
