The Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) are advanced qualifications equivalent to the first two years of study at a university. Stevenson College Edinburgh has agreements with many UK universities which allow you to progress to the 2nd or 3rd year of a degree course on successful completion of an HNC/D. The University of Abertay Dundee has validated two BA programmes that are taught at Stevenson College Edinburgh. These top-up degrees are designed for students who have already completed an HND qualification or equivalent. More information on these two courses is provided here .
Start Dates and Entry Requirements
To apply for and HNC or HND you need to have a total IELTS score of 5.5 and a minimum of 5.0 in each IELTS band. A previous knowledge of the subject is required in most cases. The start date for all HNCs and HNDs is early September, with some extra start dates in late January for Fast Track HNDs. Introductory courses are available in some subject areas. Fast-Track HNC/Ds
Fast Track HNC/Ds are available in some subjects for January start, allowing students to complete the course in eighteen months and at a reduced fee. The course is intensive as a one year course is studied in the first six months. Please get in touch for more details.
