The Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) are advanced qualifications equal to the first two years of study at a university. You can enter the 2nd or 3rd year of a degree following an HNC/D.
Advanced entry programmes (HNCs and HNDs) can offer a lower cost alternative to gaining a degree. Students can often progress to university at an advanced entry level which means you may only have to study for a further 1 or 2 years at university.
Stevenson College Edinburgh has agreements with many UK universities which allow you to progress to the 2nd or 3rd year of a degree course. You can find out more in the Progression to UK Universities section. Students are advised to check these details with the International Centre, as entry requirements for university can change every year. After successful completion of an HND, students are also eligible to apply for Fresh Talent: Post Study Work , to remain in Scotland for up to 2 years.
