Employment

Three Employers talkingAt Stevenson College Edinburgh we appreciate that many students hope to find part time work during their studies.  We also recognise that you are studying in the UK to improve your career prospects.  This section will provide you with further information on finding part time work, Post Study Work visas as well as events which the College runs to assist students in finding jobs.

In Edinburgh most students working part time will be in the service sector, often in cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Working part time can often be a vital tool in helping students feel more settled in a new environment, but must be balanced with study commitments. As many students study English Language or English for Business part time work can provide practical, hands on experience of using English to complement their studies and increase self-confidence in everyday use of the language.

Students are also eligible to work full time during institution vacation periods. SCE can help students find employment in a number of ways, from advertisements placed around the campus to the careers service and specific organised careers days.

Scotland as a nation is welcoming to international students and the new ideas and concepts which such employees can bring, leading in turn to diverse and skilled workforce.
