Edinburgh

People on Carlton HillEdinburgh is at the heart of Scotland, and is the capital city of Scotland and home to the Scottish Parliament. It is a safe, vibrant and friendly place for students. Edinburgh is home to four universities and three colleges, and the city welcomes approximately 60,000 students per year. Edinburgh combines traditional and contemporary architecture side by side, and has produced many literary giants throughout the years. Edinburgh is the first UNESCO City of Literature, and also a World Heritage Site and was voted The Guardian and Observer’s “Favourite UK City” for six years running, Edinburgh has also been awarded the Conde Nast Traveller “Best UK City” three times.

Located on the east coast of Scotland, Edinburgh is a coastal city which provides the perfect balance of an urban city with all the amenities you dream of on your doorstep. Home to only half a million people, Edinburgh is a compact city, making it easy to get around on foot or by using the excellent public transport system. The city attracts 13 million visitors a year, making it the second most visited city in the UK.  However, it is not just a city of historic and architectural interest, Edinburgh has a thriving cultural scene which culminates each summer in the variety of festivals which are held, including the world famous Edinburgh International Festival.
