We are lucky enough to have a beautiful wheelchair accessible garden within the College which was supported by the BBC's Beechgrove Gardening team, and featured on their programme.
The garden acts as a safe haven away from the hustle and bustle of college life.
The garden was researched and developed by the Enterprise Skills students, a class with educational support needs, with the help and support of The BRITE Centre which used to be located at Stevenson. The garden includes wheelchair parking bays and seating areas, with sensory tactile features to enable visually impaired students and other students to enjoy the garden safely. The garden also features raised beds, sculptures and water/wind features.
Lesley Watson from the Beechgrove Garden team said of the garden:
"What impressed us most about the garden is the attention to detail, such as the planting of strongly scented and coloured flowering to encourage wildlife. There is also a pebble fountain in the middle of the garden and each contributor and helper has signed a stone".
