Course Overview

Adobe After Effects has revolutionised the visual effects and graphics of film and television imagery and is one of the most widely used digital and post-production packages.

The Introduction to Adobe After Effects course will provide students with a foundation in the main techniques of digital compositing and effects including key-framing, masking, motion text, multi-layer composite techniques and image manipulation. Other aspects such as green screen, chroma key, colour correction and final output compression will also be covered.

in short, the course capitalises on the fact that graphics have revolutionised the visual and technical aspects of motion graphics, along with video compositing in the television and film industries.

Objectives

Focusing on Adobe After Effects as a professional video production tool, students will explore basic and advanced techniques in media creation, compositing and effects.

Course Content

  1. Introduction to after effects workspace, using key-framing and basic transforms, intro to ram preview and composition settings.
  2. Anchor points and key-framing.
  3. Multi-layer composite techniques, including integration with Photoshop.
  4. Motion text, layer styles and text effects.
  5. Vector shapes and pre-composing.
  6. Masking, track-matting and garbage masks.
  7. Green screen and chroma key.
  8. Green screen and chroma key continued.
  9. Colour correction and effects filters.
  10. Motion Tracking.
  11. Putting It all together - Recap of all areas covered.
  12. Final output and digital compression.
