Higher Accounting focuses in the preparation and analysis of financial accounting information for managers and external users and the preparation of costing information (including preparation of budgets using spreadsheets) for managers and other internal users.
A range of methods are used to enable students to understand and prepare accounting information.
Higher units covered:
- Financial Accounting - the preparation of final accounts for profit and not for profit organisations and the analysis of the financial accounting information (partnerships, limited companies and clubs and societies)
- Management Accounting - classifying and controlling costs, costing techniques and budgeting to analyse projects and make decisions
Entry Requirements
Standard Grade 1 or 2 or Intermediate 2 or GCSE A or B or equivalent units in Accounting and Finance and/or Maths.
Note: It is possible to join the Higher without the necessary standard grades or equivalent in the subject but prior knowledge is desirable.
