Bursary, EMA, Childcare, Hardship and SAAS Funding

When you are considering starting college, one of the most important issues to consider is funding and how you intend to pay for some of the costs that come with being a student.

Our Student Advice Centre offers advice regarding fees (for most of our full-time courses there are no fees), help with living expenses, bursaries, student loans and all other aspects of student funding.

Depending on your chosen course and personal circumstances, there is a range of funding available. Funding application forms will be available to download by June 2010.

Childcare

The childcare fund can help home students with childcare costs while they are at the College. If you are studying an HNC or HND, you will need to know that you've taken full entitlement from the Student Awards Association Scotland (SAAS).

Hardship

The hardship fund can help home students both on full-time and part-time courses. The award is means-tested and we will need detailed information about your financial situation.

Bursary/EMA

If you are studying full-time non-advanced courses (i.e. up to but not including HNC), the following additional help is available:

If you are under 20, you may be able to get an Educational Maintenance Allowance. If you are aged 20 or over you may be able to get a Further Education Bursary.

If you are studying a higher level course (HNC or HND)

You will need to apply to the Student Awards Association of Scotland (SAAS) for payment of your fees, and for funding.

You can apply online at www.saas.gov.uk and phone them for more information on 0845 111 1711.

We realise that working out your funding for coming to college can be difficult so please don't hesitate to contact the Student Advice Centre if you would like more information or would just like to discuss funding.

Please note that Bursary, EMA and Hardship forms for the 2010/11 academic year will not be available to download from this page until May/June 2010.
