Stevenson has set up a new Employer Engagement Unit, which is a central College team working closely with employers and academic staff to promote and support work placement activity.
The aims of the Unit are:
- To increase work placement opportunities for our students.
- To raise awareness of good practice in placements for employers and students.
- To develop stronger links with employers to ensure we provide the right skills and training.
The Unit offers a placement service to employers which include the following:
- Pre-placement consultation - we can arrange an informal visit to your workplace to discuss placement options and outline the steps involved in the process. At this stage we ask you to complete a placement specification form outlining the placement you have to offer. To arrange a visit please contact placements@stevenson.ac.uk.
- Matching a student to fit your business needs - we have students on a wide range of programmes who have something to offer your business. Using your placement specification we will find the right student for your business.
- Health and Safety check - the College has a duty of care for students out on placement. For this reason we will carry out a Health and Safety check of your workplace before the placement starts.
- Evaluation of the placement - we value your comments on our students' performance. Your feedback will be used in our academic programme planning in order to shape Scotland's workforce of tomorrow.
Vacancies Service
The Employer Engagement Unit provides a free Job Vacancy advertising service to students at Stevenson College Edinburgh. We advertise all vacancies through a variety of methods to ensure optimum coverage; by displaying vacancy posters throughout the College, online on the Virtual Campus, and also via a weekly email update to students who register with us. Our students can offer a wide variety of experience, skills and abilities to meet the needs of employers.
