WEACT are now running a Work Club specifically for 16-24 year olds

The club will cover a number of areas including:

  • Client led job searching
  • Target specific employers
  • Go along to employer visits
  • Work on motivation and confidence
  • Meet likeminded people

The Work Club will take place every Wednesday at Gate 55 from 1-4pm for registered clients.

New Just Do It Courses 

Our Just Do It courses are aimed at young people between the ages of 16-19 in various areas of Edinburgh.

Courses run all day Wednesday, all day Thursday and Friday mornings for 5 weeks.

The next course start on Wednesday 8 February in Tynecastle Community Wing and Gracemount/Liberton (venue to be confirmed). 

 The courses will help young people to:

  • Get started on a career path/college course
  • Gain skills and confidence to handle new situations
  • Find out what employers are looking for
  • Learn how to jobsearch and be confident in interviews
  • Find out more about yourself, your skills and what your interests are
  • Gain a Youth Achievement Award
  • Team Building
  • Get input from employers and colleges
  • Have some fun!

Work Placement Opportunity

WEACT are looking to provide paid work placements for young clients registered with WEACT. Funding is available to pay the employer for up to six months. 

We are currently looking to fill placements in the following areas:

  • Joinery/maintenance work
  • Retail - Fashion
  • Care

Basic Employability Focussed Computer Class

Each Friday WEACT is conducting an employability based IT class for beginners. 
The course covers:

  • Emailing job applications
  • Attaching CVs and Covers letters to emails
  • Online job searching.

The course is adapted to individual client needs as much as possible and is informal and relaxed.

This course is only open to WEACT clients who have already been registered and referred by their advisor.

Employability Workshops

WEACT launched employability workshops in September for existing registered clients. 

The weekly workshops include: 

The workshops are open to clients who have registered with WEACT and been referred to these courses by their advisor.

  • Targeting CVs and cover letters

  • Motivation and creating goals whilst job searching

  • Applications and Personal statements

  • Online job searchingInterview skills and mock interviews

  • Practicing interviews in a group

Workclub
