Equality and Diversity Awards

Stevenson has won awards for its commitment to equality and diversity:

Stonewall Diversity Champions programme

added: 16:37, 14-09-11In September 2011 Stevenson College Edinburgh joined Stonewall’s Diversity Champion’s programme which is the UK’s good practice forum for LGB equality issues in the workplace.  

As the first college in Scotland to join this programme, Stevenson has the opportunity to network with a broad range of organisations to share, learn and take forward best practice.  Gillian Russell, Depute Principal at Stevenson said: "We are committed to equality for LGB staff and recognise the benefits that diversity brings to Stevenson College Edinburgh."

LGBT Youth Scotland Charter Mark

LGBT CharterStevenson College Edinburgh is proud to be one of the first colleges in Scotland to receive the LGBT Youth Scotland Charter Mark.  Awarded by the charity LGBT Youth Scotland, the Mark recognises

 organisations' high standards of support for young lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans-gender individuals.

NUS Scotland

In January 2010 Stevenson won the NUS Scotland LGBT Society of the Year award. The award is presented to student groups, due to their commitment and dedication in supporting LGBT community within the College.  It is also in recognition of the passion, energy, time and effort of the LGBT team in promoting equality and a vital network of support at Stevenson.

See Me Pledge

Stevenson signed the See Me Pledge in 2008 which promises to tackle the stigma of mental ill health. 1 in 4 of us suffer at some point in our lives from mental ill health and the College has  been committed to raising  awareness about mental ill health among students and staff and also strengthened the ways in which the College promotes positive mental well-being. Stevenson was awarded a grant by the NHS and is currently running a campaign "Reaching Out" for staff and students to make them aware of how they can support people with mental ill health.
