Stevenson College Edinburgh is proud to be one of just two colleges in Scotland to receive the LGBT Youth Scotland Charter Mark. Awarded by the charity LGBT Youth Scotland, the Mark recognises organisations' high standards of support for young lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans-gender individuals.
The College has an equal opportunities policy that aims to prevent discrimination on the grounds of, for example, gender, disability, ethnic origin, language, nationality and sexual orientation and to promote equality for all the College community. This policy commits the College to:
- Ensuring staff and students can go about their business in an atmosphere free from intimidation and abuse. The College's policy on unfair treatment explains the rights and responsibilities of staff and students in terms of their behaviour.
- Promoting a culture of diversity that values the contribution of all students and celebrates their achievements.
- Encouraging the active participation of disabled staff and students in the College's decision making processes.
- Promoting positive work and study relations between staff and students.
- Working actively towards eliminating discrimination in all aspects of the College's work and making reasonable changes where necessary to ensure full equality.
- Widening participation and promoting inclusive learning to ensure the fullest participation of people from all social backgrounds, abilities and cultures.
